Commercial description by brewer: "Bourgogne des Flandres is the true taste of Bruges. What makes this beer so special is its mixed fermentation. The brown top-fermented beer is subtly blended with the best spontaneously fermented lambic, which then matures in oak barrels for many months. It is this process that gives the reddish-brown beer a rich, creamy finish." About the style: Although "Brown" suggests a style like "Old Brown" or "Brown Ale", this beer should definitively be classified as Flanders Red Ale (Category 23B in BJCP 2015), because the aromas and flavors are more fruity than malty, it has mixed fermentation, matures in oak barrels, and has a brewing location in West Flanders.
