During the time of Napoleon, Pauwel Kwak was a brewer and owner of the inn 'De Hoorn' in Dendermonde. Stagecoaches stopped there every day. But coachmen at that time were not allowed to leave their carriage and horses to quench their thirst with their passengers. As a result, the resourceful innkeeper had a special Kwakglas blown that could be hung on the carriage. This way the coachman had his Kwak beer safely at hand. WATCH: Kwak is recognizable by its deep, clear amber color and a dense, cream-colored head. The light wood of the glass holder forms a pleasant contrast with the beer. ODOR: You smell a soft, fruity and malty aroma with a slightly spicy character (coriander, hops). Additional earthy and very subtle aromas of banana and perhaps also a hint of pineapple or mango in the background. TASTE: Discover a very soft, fruity attack, a nougat-like firmness and a slightly spicy character with hints of licorice that transition into a warm aftertaste reminiscent of caramelized banana. The bitterness always remains in the background, but eventually emerges subtly.
