Orval 2014 Ale - 33 CL

Note: The ABV value of this beer varies, in the United States 6.9% is used. The Orval brewery produces only one beer for sale, a high-fermentation beer that continues to ferment in the bottle. It is 6.2% ABV. This beer is brewed exclusively from spring water, barley malt, hop cones, candy sugar, and yeast. Its aroma and fine taste are more due to the hop cones and yeast than to the malt used. What is special about Orval beer is that hops are added at two different stages of the production process. First, a large amount of very fine hops is added in the brew house - this produces the famous bitter taste and is why the beer keeps for a longer period. Later, in the storage cellars, hops are added again. This is called British 'dry hopping', which produces the delicious aroma that fully satisfies even the most discerning palate. In the tasting room, Orval beer and cheese make a truly good pair: the unique shape of the bottle and glass, the design of the label, the coasters, and other publicity materials - it's all a legacy from the early 1930s.
