Orval 1989 - 33 CL

Note: The ABV of this beer varies, in the United States it is 6.9%. The Orval brewery produces only one beer for sale, a top-fermented beer that continues in the bottle. It is 6.2% ABV. This beer is brewed exclusively from springwater, barley malt, hop cones, candy sugar and yeast. The aroma and fine taste are due more to the hop cones and yeast than to the malt used. What is special about Orval beer is that hops are added at two different stages of the production process. First, in the brewing room, a large amount of very fine hops are added - this produces the famous bitter taste and is the reason why the beer keeps for a longer period. Later, in the storage cellars, hops are added again. This is the so-called British 'dry hopping', which produces the wonderful aroma that fully enhances even the most carefully prepared tasting. In the tasting room, Orval beer and cheese make a real pair: the unique shape of the bottle and glass, the design of the label, the coasters and other advertising materials – it's all a throwback to the early 1930s.
