Orval 1987 Blond - 33 CL

NOTE: The ABV of this beer varies, in the United States 6.9% is used. The Orval brewery produces only one beer for sale, a top-fermented beer that is bottle-conditioned. It has an alcohol content of 6.2%. This beer is brewed exclusively with spring water, barley malt, hops, candy sugar, and yeast. The aroma and delicate flavor are due more to the hops and yeast than to the malt used. What makes Orval beer so special is that hops are added at two different stages in the production process. First, a large quantity of very fine hops is added in the brewing hall – this creates the familiar bitter flavor and allows the beer to age longer. Later, hops are added again in the cellars. This is known as British "dry hopping," which produces the wonderful aroma that will captivate even the most cautious taster. In the tasting room, Orval beer and cheese make a perfect pair: the unique shape of the bottle and glass, the design of the label, the coasters, and other promotional materials—all a legacy of the early 1930s.
