Batch #54 Red Wine - Bordeaux 91% New Oak Medium Toast 9% La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 54 has matured for over 3.5 years in oak red wine barrels from the French Bordeaux region. These so-called Bordelaise barrels come from an area renowned worldwide for its powerful and complex red wines, made from grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. The long maturation in these wine barrels has given the beer a deep chestnut brown color – considerably darker than the regular Quadrupel. When poured, the fragile, beige foam with exceptionally fine carbonation bubbles is noticeable. Immediately, a pleasant vanilla aroma, originating from the oak, is discernible. Furthermore, a rich palette of walnuts, figs, plums, and a subtle hint of leather unfolds. The taste is full and round, with a refreshing acidity that has elegantly transitioned from the wine into the beer.
