Commercial description by brewer: "Bourgogne des Flandres is the true taste of Bruges. The mixed fermentation is what makes this beer so special. The high-fermentation brown beer is subtly blended with the best spontaneously fermented lambic, which then matures for many months in oak barrels. It is this process that gives the reddish-brown beer a rich, creamy finish." About the style: Although "Brown" suggests a style like "Old Brown" or "Brown Ale", this beer should definitively be classified as Flanders Red Ale (Category 23B in BJCP 2015), as the aromas and flavors are more fruity than malty, it has a mixed fermentation, it is aged in oak barrels and the brewing location is in West Flanders.
