Commercial description by brewer: "Bourgogne des Flandres is the true taste of Bruges. The mixed fermentation is what makes this beer so special. The brown top-fermented beer is subtly mixed with the best spontaneously fermented lambic, which is then aged for many months in oak barrels. It is this process that gives the red-brown beer a rich, creamy aftertaste." About the style: Although "Bruin" suggests a style like "Old Brown" or "Brown Ale", this beer should be definitively classified as Flanders Red Ale (Category 23B in BJCP 2015), because the aromas and flavors are fruity rather than malty, it has a mixed fermentation, it is matured in oak barrels and the brewing location is in West Flanders.
