Lucky Rasputin meets Malina 2018 Lambic/Geuze - 75 CL

A Kriek from 2018 with autumn raspberries and rhubarb.Our first barrel-aged Kriek (2018) is blended with a Kriek from 2019 that has aged for a year in barrels. This cherry lambic mix was then macerated with autumn raspberries. Here, the brewers added a third type of acid (Oxalic acid), which comes from the rhubarb. Oxalic acid is present in large quantities in the leaves, which the brewers do not use; the rhubarb stalk contains only a low dose of this acid. By combining 3 different varieties, the brewers have been able to achieve a good result. This is in addition to the fruit acids from the raspberries & cherries. The acids from the old lambic also provide a diversity in the acid palette.The blend is certainly not extremely sour in terms of mouthfeel, which you might expect from the explanation. This is partly due to the use of a mild lambic.The name of this blend comes from the wizard Rasputin, who certainly experimented with oxalic acid in his time. Malina, whom he meets, is Russian for raspberry, which masks the danger with an alluring aroma.
