Last year ended with Kurt taking his bucket of handsome reindeer to the front in Ukraine to deliver emergency aid. And this despite our dire warnings. And just as feared, the Russians flattened them: Kurt and all six reindeer. For the past six months, they have all been in an animal hospital far from the front lines in Lviv. The entire pack was badly injured, but survived because the reindeer’s specially made body armor took the brunt of the shrapnel. When the brewers spoke to him on the phone recently, he mumbled something about going to Gaza and bombing the entire strip of food and water, while the cannon’s built-in speakers played messages of peace in both Arabic and Hebrew. Here at the brewery, the official line is that the brewers appreciate Kurt’s big heart and desire to make a difference, but that the brewers are sorry to see Santa get involved in big politics. And the problems in Gaza seem to be a bit of a mouthful, even for Kurt Julemand from Kastrup. So, to keep Kurt and his boisterous reindeer out of trouble with anti-aircraft guns and such, the brewers have done what the brewers had promised ourselves never to do again: the brewers have offered Kurt and the reindeer work at the brewery. In November, Kurt and the others can deliver goods to Amager Bryghus, on a temporary basis. And so it also serves as a warm-up
