Goose Island Bourbon County Backyard Stout 2023 - 47.3 CL (1 pint)
Goose Island Bourbon County Backyard Stout 2023 - 47.3 CL (1 pint)
Feeling nostalgic this year, the brewers dug into our Bourbon County vault and pulled out an iconic recipe. In 2013, the brewers released “Backyard Rye” and our senior innovation manager Mike Siegel found himself hand-picking mulberries from trees just steps from our Goose Island Barrel House in Chicago. Inspired by that first release and by his own childhood memories of picking fruit in his own backyard, Mike started working on the Bourbon County Backyard Stout this year. This barrel-aged stout was first aged in bourbon barrels for at least a year , then finished and mixed with mulberries, boysenberries and marionberries. Each addition of berries contributes its own distinct flavor profile, with some adding sweetness and others adding acidity and complexity. A taste of the past, this imperial stout is a balanced and nuanced play on fresh fruit, vanilla and chocolate.
